When the conversation turns to war, migration, or the environment, emotions run high. Even longtime friends and the closest relatives can end up at odds.

While strong opinions used to stay at the bar, today—thanks to social media—they become a public reflection of who we are.

Kristýna Sedláčková, the director of the documentary Love Is Everything, discovered posts online by her grandfather, the well-known musician Roman Dragoun, and realized that there was more than just a generational gap between them.

In the documentary, she asks herself how to talk to someone you love, but whose words hurt you?

Roman Dragoun urgently explains his view of the world to his granddaughter. His uncompromising stances have an impact even beyond the family circle; for example, they were behind the breakup of the band T4.

Kristýna, however, refuses to give up the image of her grandfather that she knows from her childhood. She is looking for a way to overcome the communication barrier and reach mutual understanding.

In the documentary, she meets with a therapist who offers an unbiased perspective on the cultural wars within the family. Both are trapped in their own echo chambers; they long for peace and security, yet they cannot find common ground.

What truly divides us, and what, on the other hand, can bring us together again? Is it possible to maintain closeness even when we disagree? And is love truly greater than our own truth?
