Divided by Freedom: The Sensible People of the Czech Nation
The documentary The Sensible People of the Czech Nation was made in reaction to the growing demonstrations initiated by the Million Moments for Democracy movement. The authors observe the rally of over 200 thousand people at the Letná Park in Prague on 23rd June.
They try to capture the atmosphere of the demonstration and to create a multilayered image of the people rallied there, to map the difference of personalities and the scale of emotions. The interviews allude to the trust in values and to concerns for the disintegration of their fixed arrangement.
In sharp contrast to the almost intimate questioning of personal values stand the speeches of some of the rally speakers and the dynamic of the crowd chanting at the demonstration. The programme is a separate episode of a 10-part series made as part of the Czech Radio project called Divided by Freedom.
