Relocants: Surviving Minsk. Belarusian activist Olga fights the regime from Vilnius

1. říjen 2022

Thousands of Belarusians have been forced to escape the violent regime crackdown in the wake of the August 2020 presidential election. Many of them have ended up in Lithuania’s capital Vilnius, just 30 kilometers from the Belarusian border. They call themselves Relocants.

Their lives continue to be shaped by collective trauma and newly forged identities as August Belarusians. Many of them show a still-living desire to fight and to help those on the other side of the border. In this radio story, LRT journalist Ieva Balsiūnaitė tells about Belarusian activist Olga Zazulinskaya. This story was prepared as an addition to the interactive multimedia project "Relocants: Surviving Minsk" produced by LRT journalists Ieva Balsiūnaitė and Benas Gerdžiūnas.
