Olomouc to again showcase best of radio production
Drama. Documentary. News Report. These three competition sections will as every year feature in the 34th edition of the Prix Bohemia Radio festival, which takes place in Olomouc from 19 to 22 March 2018.
“The upcoming edition of the Prix Bohemia Radio festival will take place for the third time in Olomouc. Visitors and competitors can again look forward to a unique atmosphere in the university city and four days filled with arts events, radio productions and information about modern trends in the world of media,” says Czech Radio Director General René Zavoral.
The Drama and Documentary competition sections will be evaluated by a dedicated five-member jury. Prior to the main competition itself the jury will conduct a pre-selection from the programmes submitted and recommend pieces for the main competition.
In the News Report category the jury will choose four reports from among the Czech pieces submitted to go forward to the main competition. Invited radio stations from other countries will each enter two reports in the main competition.
After listening to the programmes or reports in the main competition, the jury will make their evaluations in a secret vote. Three main Prix Bohemia Radio prizes will be awarded in each competition.
The forthcoming 34th edition of Prix Bohemia Radio will once again include a student jury. It will decide the winners of student prizes from among all submitted programmes or reports, regardless of the pre-selections made by the expert committee. Hana Maciuchová will again be the face and honorary president of the festival.
During the festival Czech Radio Director General René Zavoral will induct a legend of radio into the Hall of Fame. In addition the Thálie Award for acting performance in a radio play will be bestowed by the Actors Association, in cooperation with Czech Radio.
Accreditation for visitors and media representatives will be launched in January 2018.
