The Last Call
Andrzej Puskarz was a baker by training and a postman by profession. In their spare time, he and his wife Magdalena were volunteer firefighters. On the night of 26 September 2022, they set off with colleagues from the volunteer fire brigade on a rescue mission.

They were to assist a woman who had hit a moose on the motorway and was injured.
Sadly, this was Andrzej’s final call-out. Three years after that tragic night, Antoni Rokicki visits Balice near Kraków and speaks with the deceased’s family.
"He was the life and soul of the party. You could always rely on him. He made the best croissants in Balice," say Andrzej’s loved ones.
How did they cope with the trauma of losing their husband and father? How do they feel when the fire engine siren starts wailing in the town…?
