Jiří Havelka: The Liblice Tragedy
The VOSTO5 theatre company has long been open about its affection for radio as a phenomenon. This passion also inspired the mysterious crime drama The Liblice Tragedy, set on the night of 31st December 2021, when nationwide medium-wave broadcasting was discontinued, affecting the tallest Central European terrestrial transmitter, located in the small village of Liblice.

How will the radio engineers on duty deal with the fact that the disconnected transmitter keeps broadcasting?
What, to whom, and why? With the help of an experienced detective, the radio team must venture into the field and attempt to unravel the greatest mystery of the Czech airwaves, a convergence of spacetime and energy flows, before stumbling quite by chance upon a fascinating discovery.

Set between Czech Radio headquarters and the village of Liblice in Central Bohemia, the drama was transformed from its theatre version into a radio drama by director Jiří Havelka.
In cooperation with composer and sound designer Marian Hůla, members of VOSTO5 and with the support of more than twenty actors, including real Czech Radio hosts and journalists. The production premiered on Czech Radio Vltava on New Year's Eve 2025.
