The series looks at how political change shapes both state institutions and everyday life. Based on extensive field reporting across Slovakia, the series draws on dozens of interviews with journalists, experts, and people outside the public spotlight.
Their voices form a grounded portrait of a society that has long been divided. The episodes cover Robert Fico’s return to power, the influence of disinformation and alternative media on politics, shifts in Slovakia’s foreign policy, and the country’s economic and social conditions. A bonus episode focuses on political satire and its role in responding to current developments.
The series follows not only government actions, but also reactions from the opposition, media, and civil society. The Fico Direction is a narrative-driven reportorial podcast that combines on-the-ground reporting with analysis. It offers both a clear overview of current developments and a deeper context for understanding Slovakia today.
