Digital Writer 2
A series of short stories written by Czech authors together with artificial intelligence. The project involved Petr Stančík, Ondřej Neff, Bianca Bellová, Hana Lehečková, František Kotleta, Pavel Bareš and Anna Vošalíková. The podcast also includes interviews with the authors about how they worked with AI.
In December 2021, Czech Radio launched the second series of the Digital Writer project. Artificial intelligence based on the GPT 3 algorithm wrote seven short stories together with Czech writers; you can listen to them in the mobile app and on the mujRozhlas.cz audio portal.
Unlike the first series of Digital Writer, in which only the AI based on the GPT 2 and GPT 3 systems wrote the stories, in the second series Czech authors write together with the AI.
The result is seven original stories of different genres and settings. The new series of the Digital Writer podcast includes the cyberpunk short story Dostatečné množství porna (A Sufficient Amount of Porn) by František Kotleta, the magical realist story Noc v hotelu Chaos (Night at the Chaos Hotel) by Ondřej Neff, the fairy tale Skoropravdivá legenda z kanálu (The Almost True Legend from the Canal) by Hana Lehečková, the snapshot Trable v Katánii (Trouble in Catania) by Bianca Bellová, the detective story Poslední Revolver: Příběh posledního Revolvera (The Last Revolver: The Story of the Last Revolver) by Pavel Bareš, the Greek myth Píseň nočních můr (The Song of Nightmares) by Petr Stančík and the horror story Spiritista (The Spiritualist) by Anna Vošalíková.
Each of the authors worked with AI in a different way. Some took turns writing with the AI, others let it finish their story and some let it generate plot ideas. The project therefore includes interviews with the authors themselves, who introduce the audience to the specific procedures and impressions from this unconventional collaboration.
