In the Czech Republic, disinformation is gaining ground in public debate, particularly regarding the war in Ukraine and even more during elections, as it is the case before parliamentary elections this week-end.

The website Nova Republika, founded by MEP Ivan David (SPD), frequently publishes content aligned with Kremlin narratives.
According to an investigation by journalist Vojtěch Boháč, more than 5,000 articles are produced monthly across around fifteen disinformation sites, with at least 10 % sourced from sanctioned Russian outlets.
These narratives spread further via social media before being echoed by so-called anti-system parties. Authorities are also investigating hundreds of pro-Russian TikTok accounts. On the ground, some voters distrust mainstream media, while far-right SPD leader Tomio Okamura defends access to all information sources. The electoral strength of these movements could influence the country’s future geopolitical direction.
