Burning
It all starts with an explosion. Successful music producer Mané’s apartment burns down and she survives only by a miracle. However, her psychological condition is steadily deteriorating.
A deeply buried past slowly bubbles to the surface. Under the guise of a respected and independent personality, Mané is a desperate and fatally lonely being.
This psychologically constructed thriller with detective elements gives a suggestive account of a person for whom music was once everything. Mané’s life is turned upside down after the fire. Her apartment and recording studio burned down and she can’t work. Her anxiety, which she used to overcome by working, is now dealt with by aimless bike rides, endless returns to the ruins of the burnt-out building or clinging to a little girl, Coraline, growing up with a perpetually drunk mother. And then voices that cannot be silenced begin to be heard.
Who is Ólina, with whom Mané has exhausting late-night conversations? Who is Hjartan, and why did he feel the need for revenge? And who actually started the fire?
