Broken Family

From their parents, they have experienced alcoholism, disrespect, neglect, or violence. However, the core of the series is not centered on traumatic childhood memories. Its main focus is on the authentic personal strategies that young people use today to cope with these issues.

These are then analyzed by psychotherapists in commentary segments and accompanying interviews. The aim of the series is to present real lived strategies and challenges, and to offer psychological support and guidance in finding safe and sustainable solutions.

The first episode explores maintaining or cutting off contact with parents. Other episodes focus on one’s relationship with oneself, and on finding healthy relationships in friendships or partnerships. The series also touches on sibling relationships and becoming a parent oneself.

The visual identity of the series was created by internationally acclaimed photographer Marie Tomanová, and the music was composed specifically for the content by Czech musician Kvítek. The creative producer and dramaturg was Veronika Ruppert, and the sound engineer was Jan Brauner. The series consists of 5 narrative episodes and 5 accompanying therapeutic episodes, released weekly. It concludes with 3 bonus interview episodes and a recording of a live event.
