Brief Interviews with Hideous Men
Selfishness, buck-passing, calculating, inability to accept responsibility for one’s own failures or the pain of another. These and many other qualities are associated with the main characters of American novelist David Foster Wallace’s (1962-2008) short story collection Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.
The 1999 book inspired directors Kristýna Jankovcová and Adam Svozil to make two adaptations of the same name. The first of them, a theatrical one, focusing on the theme of therapy, premiered in 2019 at Divadlo Na zábradlí. In the second one, the authors decided to use the form of a staged radio documentary.
