Anger and despair on both sides of the planned wall on the Mexican-American border
In the United States, the emergency declared by President Donald Trump has been in place for nearly three weeks, seeking to raise resources to build more than 370 kilometers of a new barrier on the Mexican border. He calls the situation in the borderland a humanitarian and security crisis and refers to the wall as a solution to the problems of illegal migration, crime or drugs.
The opponents of the wall regard it as an expensive and ineffective solution to the problems in the borderland and a fear trafficking at a time when, according to government statistics, the situation on the border is calmer compared to the recent past. In today's edition of “Zaostřeno”, we will now take you to both sides of the US-Mexico border to people who are directly concerned by migration and border barriers. After the report, you will hear an interview with a conservative border security expert who was a member of Donald Trump's presidential team. Jan Kaliba first invites you to the Sonoran Desert, Arizona.
