A Story for the Week: Andy Warhol Museum in Medzilaborce
In his radio report, the RTVS editor Lukas Mano handles the topic of Andy Warhol Museum in the town of Medzilaborce, incl. its history, premises, reconstruction plans for the future, as well as famous works by this outstanding world-known artist, exhibited in the museum.
Thanks to interviews with the museum´s director and curator, the listener gets to know about the qualities of Warhol´s work and finds out why his art was first deemed controversial to become acknowledged and renowned later on. The author also focused on artist's private life, incl. his heartfelt relation with his mother. And last but not least, the report takes the listener to a radio visit of the famous New York Factory - the venue of attack on Warhol, and the village of Mikova, where Andy's parents were born and where one of his relatives still lives by now.
The radio report, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Andy Warhol Museum in the town of Medzilaborce (Eastern Slovakia), was aired in 5 episodes on Radio Slovensko, 1st radio channel of Radio and Television Slovakia in the period from 30 August to 3 September 2021 as a part of a documentary cycle titled “Pribeh na tyzden” (“A Story for the Week”), broadcast on daily basis from Monday to Friday. We submit Part 1 for the Prix Bohemia Radio Festival 2022.
