The 41st edition of Prix Bohemia Radio starts
The upcoming edition of the international radio festival Prix Bohemia Radio, announced by Czech Radio, is now open for entries from authors of original audio and podcast works. Creators can submit their works in four categories, which are again Drama, Documentary, News Report and Podcast. The five-day competition will take place from 19 to 23 October 2025 in Olomouc.
"Czech Radio will again this year organise the Prix Bohemia Radio international radio festival. The 41st edition of the competitive showcase of the best in audio will traditionally take place in Olomouc in autumn. In addition to announcing the winners of the main competition, there will also be Student Awards in each category and a Listener Award in the Podcast category, which will now be voted for online. I believe that all categories will offer a varied and interesting range of quality competition entries this year," said René Zavoral, Director General of Czech Radio.
The festival includes three national categories and one international category, and all categories will be judged according to the same basic criteria. These are quality of processing, sound quality, originality, meaningfulness, usefulness of the theme and topic and then the overall impression. Each category also has specific evaluation criteria, which are listed on the festival website.
The Drama category is for an original drama, audio-adaptation or dramatisation produced in the Czech Republic in the Czech language and published by a Czech broadcaster/distributor between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. The submission of an annotation of up to 3000 characters, script and audio is a condition of entry. In case of the work's advancement to the final round, an English translation of the script is required.
The Documentary category is open to audio documentaries with a maximum length of 60 minutes, produced in the Czech Republic and published by a Czech broadcaster/distributor between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. In case of the work's advancement to the final round, an English translation of the script is required.

The Podcast category is open to regular podcasts and podcast channels with at least ten published episodes and closed podcast series or series with at least three published episodes that were published via the internet (web, apps, streaming platforms) between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. Podcasts must be in Czech and available in audio for a Czech audience. Podcasts in video cannot be submitted. There is no limit on the length of podcasts for submission.
The international News Report category is open to radio reports with a maximum length of 10 minutes published between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 by a Czech or foreign broadcaster/distributor in the territory of the invited foreign broadcasters. It is a news format - i.e. authentic, eyewitness testimony of a reporter who reports on an important current event in the form of a description, narration or interview with other participants and a documentary sound recording of the environment. It must come to the competition in the version and format as broadcast, i.e. without any editing.
Authors can enter their works in each section of the competition via the online forms on the Prix Bohemia Radio website until 30 April 2025, and only in one of the categories of the competition show.
The Prix Bohemia Radio prizes will be awarded to the top three places in each of the four categories. Each category will be judged by its own expert jury, which will decide by secret ballot after hearing the competition programmes.
Each category also has a student jury. This jury decides the winner of the Student Prize from the entries selected by the expert jury for the finals.
A new feature of last year's festival was the Listener Award in the Podcast category, which will be awarded again this year, but listeners will now vote online for the winner.
During the festival, CEO René Zavoral will once again induct a radio personality into the Hall of Fame and the Thalia Award for the best performance in a radio play will also be presented.
The terms and conditions of the individual competition categories can be found on the festival website.
