The year has come and gone and we meet again at the 39th edition of the prestigious Prix Bohemia Radio Festival
Dear ladies and gentlemen, dear listeners of Czech Radio,
I would like to wish you nice four days in my native city of Olomouc. The year has come and gone and we meet again at the 39th edition of the prestigious Prix Bohemia Radio Festival. It is a great honour for me to be its President. I see Czech Radio as a medium that, as we say in modern language, is even one level up than Czech Television.
I respect it for its mission to bring its listeners not just entertainment, but also a great deal of education. Whether it be audio books or various popular science programmes such as The Laboratory and others. This year, I also participated in creating its programme, spending the first half of the year recording readings for the sequel of the late Karel Gott’s memoir. Part of this project involved recording 16 000 words in his voice created by artificial intelligence. I enjoyed this work very much because I learned a lot of new information, even intimate things about his life, which I would never have sought out on my own. It broadened my horizons and most of the listeners’ horizons, whose positive reactions confirmed the significance of my work. Many of my professional colleagues from the field I meet also swear by Czech Radio.
I appreciate the atmosphere in Olomouc, which I am experiencing for the third time this year. As Mrs. Hana Maciuchová, who is just as intensely connected with Olomouc as I am, is unfortunately no longer with us, I was invited to try and take over the honorary position of the President of the Prix Bohemia Radio Festival. I really am happy to do so, because it is about meeting people, sharing inspiration in a very friendly atmosphere, and I honestly think that in the flood of commerce, Czech Radio as such has its purpose.
