My unknown homeland

23. září 2023

Shushanik Brown is 27 years old and was born and raised in Poland. Her parents are originally from Armenia. For many years they worked and lived in Elbląg, where they ran their own business.

Twelve years ago, they moved to the United States. There they started a new life. Shushanik began her adventure with photography overseas. After graduating from high school, she set up her own business and has been capturing weddings ever since, travelling with newlyweds all over the world. During the coronavirus pandemic, she felt it was time to do a project of a social nature. She decided to visit her first homeland, Armenia, in order to document the changes taking place there: social, psychological and political. She called the project “Motherland I’ve never had”.

In ‘My unknown homeland’ Shushanik will talk about the journey of learning about her own family’s roots. Do you find it easy to be Armenian, Polish and American…?
