„There is sorrow in every house now“ - in Groza People Are Preparing for a Mass Burial
On October 6, 2023, mass burials were being prepared in the village of Groza in the Kharkiv region. The day before, on October 5, Russia launched a missile at the place where villagers had gathered for a memorial service for the military. 52 villagers died immediately.
Journalist from Suspilne Ukraine is at the village's cemetery. Here, the territory is cleared with an excavator, and residents mark places for burial of their relatives. Leader of one of the organizations says that they are preparing places for 40 graves. Valeriy Kozyr, a resident of the village, also cleans the place for the graves. He is crying. The man lost his entire family: brother, daughter, son-in-law with his parents. There are still four grandchildren who need to be raised. Valery says that now there is sorrow in every house. There were 500 people living in the village, and now they're 300. The others were killed by Russians.
