Prix Bohemia Radio presents shortlisted works selected for the main competition

About thirty works will compete at the Prix Bohemia Radio 2024 international radio festival. The 40th edition will take place in October in Olomouc. Overall, more then one hundred entries have been submitted to compete for the four main prizes in the Drama, Documentary, News Report and Podcast categories.

Thirty Documentaries, twenty-four Dramas, abou fifty Czech and foreign News Reports and forty-six Podcasts have been entered into the next edition of the Prix Bohemia Radio Festival, which will take place from 13 to 17 October in Olomouc.

Expert juries chose the works selected for the main competition in all categories. Jury will be augmented by an independent student jury, which will decide on the winner of the Student Awards from all the competition works, regardless of the expert jury pre-selection.

Visitors of the festival can again expect four days of listening to radio production and an accompanying programme of theatre performances, concerts and presentations of news and trends in the field of podcast production.

Documentary:

The Documentary national category is for radio documentaries with a maximum running time of 60 minutes, produced in the Czech Republic and broadcast by a Czech broadcaster between 1 January 2023 and 31 March 2024. Thirty documentaries in total were entered in this category. The jury selected six works for the main competition.

News Report:

This international category is open to radio News Reports no longer than 10 minutes that were broadcast between the 1st of January and the 31st of December 2022 by a Czech or a foreign broadcaster on the territory of the invited foreign broadcasters. Over 50 Czech and foreign News Reports were submitted to this section, from which the expert juries selected 4 Czech and 10 foreign finalists for the main competition.

Drama:

The Drama national category is for original radio drama, adaptation or dramatization with a maximum running time of 60 minutes, produced in the Czech Republic and broadcast by a Czech broadcaster between 1 January 2023 and 31 March 2024. Twenty-four works were entered in this category. The jury selected five finalists.

Podcast:

The Podcast category is added to the traditional Prix Bohemia Radio Festival categories for the third year in a row because of the significant interest in listening to and producing podcasts we have observed in the Czech environment in recent years. The Podcast category was open to submissions of regular podcasts and closed podcast series in Czech that were published on the internet between 1 January 2023 and 31 March 2024. Forty-six projects were submitted in total, from which the expert jury selected ten finalists for the main competition.
