Mowgli
A profound story of friendship, love, and the struggle for survival takes us into the Indian jungle, where the young boy Mowgli (Jan Cina) has to learn the language of the wolves, the laws of the jungle, and the rules of proper conduct. His strict but fair teachers are the wolves, led by pack leader Akela, the kind-hearted bear Baloo, the clever panther Bagheera, the agile snake Kaa, and many others.
In the words of the author of the radio dramatization, Marie Špalová, Kipling's story is far from a romantic fairy tale. It is a suspenseful, dramatic and sometimes even cruel story. Surviving in the jungle means being perceptive and attentive to all the surrounding sounds. That's precisely what inspired the adaptation. According to Maria Špalová, the jungle is a brilliant soundscape, and when the listener is able to change perspectives along with the characters and be on the ground with Baloo for a moment, and then swinging into the treetops with Mowgli and the monkeys, it’s a unique experience.
The music of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra helps create the vivid world of the dangerous yet magical jungle, in which a thrilling drama about finding one's place in society unfolds.
