Karina the Eagle Has Died
An ecological true-crime story provides insight into the world of people who care about the life of birds of prey in the Czech Republic.
In February 2021, four sea eagles were found dead in a pasture near Velky Bor. The autopsy revealed poisoning by the nerve agent carbofuran, which had been deliberately planted on the animals. There are dozens of similar cases in the Czech Republic every year. The pair of authors set out into the field to find out who is behind the poisoning and why these incidents are occurring.
