Five Stages of Grief
Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and reconciliation – the five stages of grief. The author presents these five states in an audio documentary that reflects her family’s story when one day they discover a family member is suffering from a terminal illness.
The author recorded with her family for nine months, noting the five stages of grief that five of her loved ones went through and she tries to open up the subject of grief and death. The documentary is meant to bring up the subject of communication about difficult topics such as death and mourning and to highlight the importance of the institution of family. The piece seeks to act as a form of therapy for family members and the audience who are experiencing similar situations.
