Europa-Journal: Ukraine - Radio Experiences a Rebirth in Times of War
Since the beginning of the war, the public service radio station Suspilne has become one of the most important mass media in Ukraine.
This is because a small battery-powered radio works even when the electricity, cell phone network and Internet are down. Listening to the radio is also possible in the areas occupied by Russia - without leaving any suspicious traces of the listeners, unlike with communication on a computer or cell phone. Since February 24, all radio stations in Ukraine have been working together to maintain full broadcasting operations throughout the country. However, journalists' associations are warning of the possible danger. Daniela Prugger accompanied the program makers as they worked between the studio and the bomb shelter.
