Delight
The series explores the theme of sexual freedom through the eyes of today’s young women. The author interviews dozens of girls and women who openly discuss what has shaped their relationship with intimacy and their perceptions of it.
How do they imagine sexual freedom? What influences their views on sex within and outside of relationships? What external expectations do they perceive? What feels positive and safe, and what feels uncomfortable or restrictive? Each episode is thematic, featuring multiple respondents, and is complemented by expert commentary that provides a broader context—from history to sociology, psychology, and sexology. Each of the six main episodes is accompanied by additional interviews on related topics.
The series tackles sexuality in a way that is rarely seen in Czech media, where the topic is often presented in a tabloid, superficial, or humorous manner. Instead, it approaches the subject seriously and comprehensively, blending journalistic and documentary storytelling. It is based on authentic testimonies from young people while also explaining broader historical and societal contexts.
The series places strong emphasis on safe relationships, healthy intimacy, and the mental well-being of young people. It contributes to the education of youth about sex and sexuality, an area that is not yet systematically incorporated into the Czech educational system. Listener feedback suggests that it helps improve communication both within young people’s relationships and across generations, particularly between parents and their growing children.
By the end of March, the series had over 515,000 downloads and had received hundreds of responses via email and social media.
Upon its release, the series received a wave of positive reactions from young listeners, as well as from their parents’ generation. However, it also attracted criticism. Interestingly, many critics admitted they had not actually listened to the show (as seen with Čermák on DVTV), and their arguments were often based solely on personal impressions and biases against the author.
