The 40th Anniversary Year of the Prix Bohemia Radio Festival has started
The Prix Bohemia Radio International Festival of Radio Production, organized by Czech Radio, started in Olomouc on Sunday 13 October. The competition showcases the best of radio production from the past year. During the listening days, the winners will be decided in the Documentary, News Report, Drama and Podcast categories. A rich cultural programme is again prepared for visitors throughout the festival.
This year's anniversary edition will present six final entries in the Documentary category on Monday, fourteen works from the News Report section on Tuesday, five radio plays in the Drama category on Wednesday and ten works from the newest Podcast section on Thursday. This year, for the first time, there will also be a Listener's Choice Award in this category.

I believe that this year we are expecting a lot of quality competition entries that visitors will be able to listen to, and I am looking forward to an extremely busy accompanying programme full of interesting events. I wish the contestants good luck and all visitors to experience the great atmosphere of the festival in the historic city of Olomouc," said René Zavoral, Director General of Czech Radio.
The opening ceremony of the 40th edition of Prix Bohemia Radio will take place on Monday at the Dům u parku. During the course of the evening, Czech Radio's Director General René Zavoral will introduce another prominent personality from radio history to the Hall of Fame and the President of the Actors' Association Ondřej Kepka will award the Thalia Prize to actor Vladimír Javorský for the best performance in a radio play. The opening ceremony will be broadcast by Czech Radio Dvojka and Czech Radio Olomouc.
In addition to the public hearings of the final competition entries, a varied accompanying programme has been prepared for visitors. On Monday, there will be a public recording of the podcast Na Východ! (To the East!), followed by a discussion with its creators Josef Pazderka and Ondřej Soukup.
On the next day of the festival, theatre lovers can look forward to a performance of Ošklivec at the Moravian Theatre Olomouc. The Prague Drama Club's production will be preceded by the opening of the Invisible Actor of the Century exhibition, which will run until the end of November.
Wednesday's festival programme will be enriched by Aleš Cibulka's entertaining road show Rozhlas jede za Vámi (Czech Radio Goes to You), which will take place near Olomouc, at the town's cultural centre in Šternberk. The evening show will be attended by well-known faces such as Igor Bareš and Dalibor Gondík, as well as René Zavoral, Director General of the Czech Radio. In addition, the popular Podcast Session event will take place in the evening at the Jazz Tibet Club, where trends and news from the world of podcasts are traditionally presented in an interactive show with visitors. The event will feature creators from the podcasts Tarts Read, Jaws and Unraveling Mysteries.
The festival's accompanying programme will end with an entertaining radio programme Humoriada na cestách (Humoriada on the Road) with Naďa Konvalinková, Ursula Klukova and Josef Fousek. The whole festival will then be closed with a closing ceremony, where an expert jury will announce the three best entries in each category. The Awards Ceremony will be broadcast by Czech Radio Vltava and Czech Radio Olomouc.
